Footage from "Hip Hop Saved My Life" Video Shoot

So I have been on YouTube and Google like crazy lately making sure I get that video for you guys as soon as it's available...not sure what's up with the delay, but in the mean time here is some behind-the-scenes footage from Algierz TV. Gotta say I'm proud to have this up here 'cause I haven't seen it on any of the other Lupe blogs...and there are many of them. :D

The Grammy Shoe Mystery Continues...

After the Grammys, shoeheads across the net were debating what exactly those things on Kanye's feet were. At first some people were thinking they might be these, but if you look closely you can see that they aren't the same. After a lot of discussion, people seemed to conclude that they were the unreleased collaboration between Kanye and Nike. This interview by The Moment with Kanye supports this idea. You can check out all the speculation going on at Nike Talk here.

N3RD Re-Titled and Delayed

N3RD has been re-named "Seeing Sounds" and will not be released until late June, Six Shot is reporting based on an article in Entertainment Weekly.
The title is based on "[...]reference to a neurological phenomenon called Synesthesia, where senses cross so a tone correlates to, say, a color -- read the insanely complex dissection at wikipedia," Entertainment Weekly says.
So, the album won't even be out before I see them in April. Had a feeling it wouldn't, but June? Damn.

Late Night Appearances

Chad's hair is soooooo short. From what I can see anyway. I love it. I'm a sucker for shaved/buzzed filipino boys...and the sunglasses...ooooh, well just check it out for yourself.

And maybe you've already seen in, but here's Lupe on Leno. Jay Leno is not funny at all to me normally, but hearing him fail to pronounce Lupe (he said it the female way) is pretty funny.

And on Carson...the show you only watch when you have insomnia. He's got a collar shirt on <3. style="font-weight: bold;">Those glasses...look so good. I wish Lupe wore his glasses when I saw him live. Maybe he'll wear them some during TGITDT.

Some things you've seen and some you haven't...

From Jalou.
Thanks for the comments and support on the recent posts. I hesitate to do a lot of editorial stuff, but if people are interested I will keep doing it.

Mini Update Time

I'm really determined to post the video for "Hip Hop Saved My Life" as soon as it's out, but I have seen no new news on that. I'm on it though, I promise! I'm determined to be the best source for all things Child Rebel Soldier -related.
Here's another article on the possibility of 50 remixing "Flashing Lights" for Kanye. Sounds like it's happening. I wonder if they have or will spend time in the studio together. Ideas?
I haven't commented on the pre-sales for TGITDT (figure that acronym out) yet because I haven't experienced it much for myself. Yes, I'm a fanclub member. I'm gonna be 5 star at the HP Pavilion, so I got what I want...people seem upset because they think they didn't get enough notice...chill guys...more dates are being announced. Also, being in the fanclub doesn't guarantee anything. If you think you got a bad deal...I read a forum post by a woman who was in the fanclub and couldn't use the code because she needs wheel-chair access, which at the time wasn't available with pre-sales. I think that might be fixed now, I'm not sure. I'm just saying if you didn't get pre-sales....that sucks and all, but some people are dealing with other issues that they don't have control of. Hopefully this stuff will get worked out, but it's hard to make everyone happy! People on the forums...I understand your concerns, but you folks gotta cut out all that immature repeat posting you're doing. Don't post your friggin' "OMG I HAT YOU I DINT GET PRESAILZ!!1" on every board...that doesn't belong in like discussion boards and posting it like 10 times just makes you look dumb...

Media Takeout Reports on Possible Kanye/50 Collab

Click here to read the article. I have a lot to say about this, but I'll get to it later. Monday, oh, Monday.
In general, I dislike 50 Cent's image and message. However, I sometimes put these feelings aside and enjoy his music. I think that "Ayo, Technology" has really been the only big single from "Curtis" and the credit for that belongs mostly to Timbaland, who I really think is a genius. Also, Justin Timberlake's talent is truly undeniable. I've joked with my friends about how the reason "Ayo, Technology" is the only really successful single off of "Curtis" is because maybe it's the only collaberation with Timbaland and JT that 50 could afford. That might not be the issue, but then why didn't they make more songs together?
I am not saying that 50 Cent isn't skilled. He is, but when I get frustrated with his ways and the damage I think he is doing to his fans, I find myself saying "getting shot in the face doesn't make you a good rapper." I don't really believe that 50 would try to claim that (well...maybe he would?), but it's the message in his marketing. His image is exactly what hip hop needs to move away from. It's exactly what young people need to move away from. KIDS ARE LISTENING, and you are just gonna make violence seem as "cool" as you possibly can? How can you live like that. If you love hip hop, if you love people who love hip hop, maybe you should think about what the hell you are gonna broadcast, because you know everyone is listening. (Does 50 love hip hop? Shouldn't someone have to love hip hop to be so big?)
Just like their rivalry (if you wanna call it that) is good for hip hop--good for people who love hip hop--I think the of Kanye West and 50 Cent collaboration could be good for hip hop too. Maybe being shot in the face isn't gonna sell songs anymore. Or even if it does sell songs, I hope more hip hop artists will refuse to dumb it down for the charts. Everyone makes some singles for the radio and some songs that can get on MTV; I just wish that someone with as much influence as 50 Cent would realize that he shouldn't be all about that. Or if he is gonna be about that, at least say something different once in a while. (Yeah you're rich. Yeah you're tough. We get it...)
Kanye's contrast from 50 Cent is something I love about him. If you look at events in their lives that they emphasize...Kanye thanks God that he survived the accident, while 50 seems proud of being shot and still around. Maybe I don't know him though. Yeah, I don't know 50 Cent, I just know his current image. If 50 Cent can change his message and image so that he's not all about how "cool" violence is--if he can stop making young men everywhere think they need to be violent to be men--maybe I can forgive him for the shit he pulls, like releasing the song twice.

Pharrel In Style

Here is a feature in In Style about Pharrell. There's also a video with some quick Q&A. Check out those black shoes he's wearing when he's got the red on gray Panda Face sweater on.
PS: Shout out to all the people finding their way here via LupEND. Now if only you guys would comment :D

?uestlove Comments on Tracks from the Upcoming New N*E*R*D CD

In a recent interview with Independent Weekly, ?uestlove had the following to say about the new N*E*R*D CD:
"[...]Pharrell played me a bit of the new N.E.R.D. record, and you definitely know that he wants to come back with a vengeance. Like, I think Pharrell got something in his soul that's just saying, 'I can't rely on just my good looks and fashion sense. Muhfuckas are tryna count me out, and I got to not just come back, but really kick their ass.' I mean, the four or five songs I heard, it's like, this dude is coming back like he got a score to settle. So hopefully, that will just start a domino theory on everybody else."

Pharrell Williams Furniture

The Starpulse Entertainment News Blog said in "Notes & Quotes" today, "Enterprising hip-hop star Pharrell Williams is designing his own furniture line which he hopes to launch at the Art Basel festival in Switzerland in June." Unfortunately the article doesn't elaborate any further than that. For more information on the festival, click here.

Lupe Fiasco T-shirt Contest at Karmaloop

Check out the Lupe Fiasco's The Cool t-shirt contest over at Karmaloop. That's where I got my "F'ing Good NERD" shirt from. Also, I just really like a lot of their stuff and my friend Tommy Wisdom did a little modeling for them. I love love love houndstooth.

Little Things

Okie, thanks for the comments lately guys :D. I think Imma stick with this simpler layout for a bit. It looks clean, right?
There was some upset fan club members at Kanye's forums 'cause the LA show got sold out so fast...but now they have added a second LA show. So if you're a fan club member in the LA area, check the page again. Also you probably got an email telling you about it.
As for the Flashing Lights video, the consensus seems to be that this is the first of a three-part series. I think we saw the ending and next it will go back to the start. OR if this is the start then there's some big twist headed our way.
Pharrell is in the studio with The Teriyaki Boyz and will be there will them for their show in April. I think maybe Kanye will be there too...? I gotta double check that. Also, P's skaters of Team Ice Cream now have a blog which I have added to the links section to the left, so check that out. I commented some over there, but I think they haven't started approving the comments yet 'cause there aren't any showing up.
OH YEAH, couple more things. Lupe will be performing at the NBA All Star game in New Orleans. Also, tomorrow is his 26th birthday!

Hey sorry the layout is a little wack right now. I've been working on it, but I uhhh am tired. I'll fix this thing the mean time please comment on my latest posts...also...a special shout out to Estonia because that is a country I never heard of until I saw it listed in my page statistics. Apparently there is at least one CRS fan in Estonia. Mostly I get hits from US, UK, France, Canada, Germany, Netherlands. If your country is not being represented maybe you need to tell your friends to come through, haha. Oh yeah and I consistently get at least 4 hits a day from Japan so that's cool. If you are a regular visitor, then you are part of a GLOBAL MOVEMENT. I promise I've been working on some graphics like membership badges or something...just not quite right yet.

Are you a Child Rebel Soldier?

The background is transparent so this will look cool over a black background or any other color.I uploaded this to my photobucket so feel free to hotlink. :D Put this on your blog, MySpace, Xanga, profile, whatever. If anyone asks you where you got it tell them about

Lupe Fiasco's "The Cool" Jackets

Lupe Fiasco's new line of reversible jackets:

Click here for information and more pictures.
I love the style of poses and stuff Lu does for photoshoots. He looks like some kind of future super hero space man. Like he's about to jump on his hoverboard and fly off somewhere to kick some ass.

ANOTHER Suprise Kanye Performance

The amazing Kanye West made another sudden appearance last night. Fans at Common's show at the House of Blues in LA got a special treat. Click here to read Perez Hilton's report on the incident.

Flashing Lights Video a Three Part Series?

I really like it, in case you can't tell from the previous blog entry. Some people are disappointed. Some are sure there is more to come. Click here to read a brief article on the video and the rumors surrounding it.
I'm thinking this thing is going a sort of Evita style, meaning it starts with death and then goes back to the beggining to show us how the main character got there. So the next part will probably be when Rita and Kanye first see each other across a crowded room. I'm guessing she leads him away to someplace private...and that's how he ends up where we see him in the video released yesterday.

Like the lady? Learn more about her here.
We all know Kanye is a T man, but DAMN...haha. I gotta say it's hot to see the Louis Vuitton Don tied up in a trunk. Getting killed by a Playboy model? HOT. Hahaha...It's different from most modern music videos because it's all one storyline instead of cutting between a bunch of scenes.

Jane Bond in Lingerie, anyone?

Future Plans

Hey everyone. I'm gonna make a big master calendar with all upcoming dates for The Glow In The Dark Tour plus any dates when individual CRS members will be performing. Not right now though
'cause I'm trying to get my tickets to when TGITDT comes to HP Pavillion in San Jose<33333!!! But I want floor tickets...but Ticket Master won't give me any even though I have Kanye's fanclub code cause I joined that thing...well I might end up in section 102 it looks like...I don't know.

The Grammys

Image from Yahoo! News
Hey guys so I know I said I don't watch a lot of award shows, but I checked out the Grammys and now I'm really liking it. Since it's the 50th Grammys, they have an awesome theme of combining new and old. I loved Alicia Keys's performance so much. There's nothing I dislike about her. Next, with Rihanna and The Time, makes it like a mash-up being performed right in front of you. I am a huge sucker for mash-ups and epic collaborations like Alicia Keys and Frank Sinatra. Or just seeing Miley Cyrus standing next to Cyndi Lauper. Also, Tom Hanks is awesome.

Peep Kanye's Fit for his Grammy Performance of Stronger

I'm thinking I will have those marching band looking stripes on when I go to The Glow In The Dark Tour, well at least for ONE of the times that I go. I will be going every chance I get.
This picture is also from Yahoo! News.
PS 'Ye has already got 4 Grammys so far tonight.

More Dates for The Glow In The Dark Tour

There's been lots of traffic lately and yet I get no comment love D: Lol, it's okay I guess as long as you all keep coming back!!!

The Glow In The Dark Tour dates being revealed...

The Palace of Auburn Hills has announced that Kanye West, N.E.R.D., Lupe Fiasco, and Rihanna will be performing there on May 22, 2008. Tickets go on sale at 5 p.m. Feb 15th. Click here for the full article from the Detroit Free Press.

P with Tommy Hilfiger, The Glow In The Dark Tour Date Rumors

Photo from OK! magazine. Click here for full article. P what happened to your finger? =( Seeing him wear that jacket makes me like it even more.
I heard that The Glow In the Dark Tour will be in Calgary on May 30th, but I can't find any evidence to back this up. Also, why would only one tour date be revealed at a time? Well, it's still an exciting possibility.

Article reviews Child Rebel Soldier - Us Placers

Check this out. It's an article analyzing "Us Placers." Also, the future of CRS is examined, what will songs be about? What subjects would the members have in common? Hmm it will be exciting to find out.

N.E.R.D. has announced that they will be performing at Brixton Academy in London on Saturday 14th June. Click here to check out the full article from Tickets go on sale Friday at 9 am!

The "TOURS" section of Kanye's official website now includes information on his upcoming performance at Bonnaroo. Over at the BBC Blog there are some new pictures from the making of Teyaba's video and Pharrell in NY for Madonna's benefit show. Here he is with Timbaland:

This picture is from YBF so check out this page if you wanna see more from this event.

Kanye West's Blog

That's what you see if you try to go to Kanye's blog or any other part of his official website. It could be just some behind-the-scenes stuff or maybe there will be some big updates. The "Tours" section has remained empty for a while now...
I'm not sure how long it's been like this...less than an hour I think. I'm gonna check back on it every couple minutes until I fall asleep or whatever. While you're waiting up (if your obsessed like me) you can read this article about Kanye's role in Hip Hop.

New Banners, CRS graphics

Hey guys thanks for the sugguestions. I put a new banner up, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep it. I also made an alternate version: (not actual size)

Let me know if you like this one better...also I moved the "F'ing Good NERD" logos over to the side 'cause I don't want to get rid of them! I'm working on some wallpapers and stuff so hopefully I'll have those up soon.

The 2008 Grammy Awards

Alright, so award shows can really have a lot of BS sometimes (as mocked by Jerry Seinfeld here), but both Lupe and Kanye are nominated to I thought I'd just list those categories for you all.
Kanye's "Graduation" is nominated for Album of the Year, up against "Rehab," "River: The Joni Letters," "These Days," and "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace." He is also nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance for "Stronger." Common's "Southside," which features Kanye, is up for Best Rap Performance by a Duo/Group. In the same category Kanye is also nominated for "Classic (Better Than I've Ever Been)." "Good Life" is nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. "Can't Tell Me Nothing" is up for Best Rap Song and "Graduation" is up for Best Rap Album.
Lupe's "Daydreamin'" is up for Best Urban/Alternative Performance.
Seriously though award shows can be lame...I'll probably just check out what people are wearing and read the results online :D

My homepage has been set to and it didn't occur me to suggest this to other people until just now. It basically gives you Google and combined, and you can earn points while you do it. It has some of those annoying fake results pages that just lead you to another search page if that bothers you a lot I would just stick with Google. Here's an article with more information on what it's all about.
So I wanna thank everyone who has become a regular. From my site statistics I can see that there are regular visitors from all over the U.S. and Europe and there are even people from Japan and Thailand checking out this blog. This makes me really happy, but I wish I could get some more feedback on which posts are cool or what you guys want more of. I'd love some suggestions for icons or if there are some other graphics or something you would like to request. I was thinking about starting some kinda membership system called the Child Rebel Soldier Fancore. Please comment and share your opinion!

New Lupe Fiasco Freestyle video

The FNF blog has been updated with a link to a YouTube video of Lupe Fiasco spitting a freestyle at a show in Atlanta. Check it out:

"Hip-hop at a Crossroads"

Hey guys just wanted to link you to this excellent article that asks a lot of important questions about hip-hop. Check it out here. I think Child Rebel Soldier could be the answer to many of those questions. Of course, Lupe is mentioned in the article because I think we can all agree that he is definitely good for hip-hop. Maybe hip-hop is always at a crossroads, the same way the world always seems to be in crisis. That's when a hero arises. People get restless and they need a New Gospel. Hip-hop can save our lives, but can we save hip-hop?
